The Steel City of Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur is the first planned industrial city of India, founded by Late Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata, and is located in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. As the name signifies, the district was commonly known as the ‘Land of Lions’. The city has a population of more than 10 lakhs and the surrounding areas of Jamshedpur are rich in minerals of iron, copper, uranium and gold. Jamshedpur, besides being an industrial hub, is a popular tourist destination surrounded by Dalma Hills, Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers. The Dimna lake, Jubilee park, Chandil dam, Dalma hills, zoological park and the laser show are some of the attractions in Jamshedpur for a short time visitors. The city has a pleasant climate and the district has around one third forest area. Normal temperature in the month of December is around 65 of. It is situated at a distance of 131 and 250 km from Ranchi and Kolkata, respectively, and is well connected by air (Ranchi is the nearest airport) and rail.

Tata Steel Zoological Park, Jamshedpur
Located inside the Jubilee Park, the Tata Steel Zoological Park is an unkempt zoo which houses wildlife in its natural habitat. The park gives a respite to people with long and tiring jobs in the city and makes them see and experience nature and wildlife in their most pristine form.
There is a safari park in the zoo, in which the tourists can take a ride through the zoo and witness the wild animals in their natural habitat. The Jayanti Sarovar is located nearby, which provides various boating and water-sports activities to the tourists. Carry a hat and dribble some sunscreen on. Avoid messing with the members of the cat family
Jubilee Park, Jamshedpur
The Jubilee Park is located in the steel city, Jamshedpur. It is a popular destination for all those who wish to have an outdoor picnic, enjoy some outdoor activities and games or even just to have a relaxing day out with friends and family. Popular amongst joggers and cyclists, it is a gigantic park, spanning about 225 acres of land in the center of the city. Within, it has a lake, amusement park, recreation center, fountains and a zoo, amongst other attractions, making it a great place for some fun for people of all ages.
This local attraction is a must visit on all tourists’ lists. It was opened to the public in 1958, on the occasion of the city’s golden jubilee, the 50th anniversary of establishment. This park was originally a gift, to the town of Tatanagar from the TATA Steel Company.
Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Jamshedpur
On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Sir Dorabji Tata Park and birth anniversary of Lady Meherbai Tata, the park was rededicated to the people of Jamshedpur by T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel, on October 10, 2020 by unveiling the plaque and illuminating the Diamond Structure and the Pavilion. On the occasion, Ruchi Narendran unveiled the statue of Lady Meherbai Tata. They were joined by the Vice Presidents of the Company and R Ravi Prasad, President of Tata Workers’ Union, among other guests. In view of COVID-19, all the other invitees, including employees, joined the event through webcast.
Spread over 2.5 acres, the upgraded park now includes a statue of Sir Dorabji’s wife, Lady Meherbai Tata, and a resplendent steel tubular structure and pavilion, through which the legacy of the famous “Jubilee Diamond” has been immortalised in steel.
Dimna Lake
Dimna Lake in Jamshedpur is an ideal place to spend your day if you feel like getting away from the city and spending a quiet day with your loved ones or friends. Situated at a mere distance of 13 km away from the Jamshedpur city area, it is close to the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. An artificial lake in the Steel City of Jamshedpur, it is located at the foothills of the Dalma mountain range and is famous for its serenity and pleasant greenery. The lake is pretty well-known as a picnic spot with its clear water and scenic surroundings, creating scope for mini treks into the hills, and water activities such as boating, rowing, and jet skiing among many others.
Dalma Hills
Located on the outskirts of the city of Jamshedpur, at a height of 3,000 ft above sea level, Dalma Hills are surrounded by dense forests and the pristine Subarnarekha river. Offering commanding views of the nearby areas, the hills are ideal for indulging in adventure-sports like rock climbing and trekking. The main attraction is the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to fauna like leopards, elephants, tigers, barking deer, sloth bears and porcupines. The forest department has also set up a rest house and bamboo huts, where tourists can spend a night, which makes for a truly intriguing experience. Tourists can also visit a temple of Lord Shiva, lying atop a hill, which draws scores of devotees on different festive occasions.
Chandil Dam
Chandil Dam standing on the Subarnarekha River is a place of scenic beauty. This dam is one of the most visited places of jharkhand. The museum located close to the Chandil dam has scripts written on rocks,which are 2000 years old.
The multi-purpose chandil dam was built across the meeting place of both the rivers. The dam is 220 meter in height and the height of its water level is 190 meter from different places tourists coming from different parts of the country enjoy boating and the natural beauty in and around the dam.Chandil is famous for its importance in the field of tourism. The River Swarnarekha flows through this region. The Karkori River originating from the Hundru falls mingles with the Swarnarekha River here at chandil.

Rock Garden, Ranchi
Rock Garden in Ranchi, is located on Gonda hill on Kanke road and is one of the best tourist spots in Ranchi. With faux waterfalls, rocks and sculptures artistically strewn about, the garden is a great place for a casual stroll with family or some quiet moments in solitude.
Dasham Falls, Ranchi
Located near the Taimara village in the Ranchi district, Dasham Falls, also known as Dassam Falls, is a spectacular waterfall in the state of Jharkhand which is a tributary of the Subarnarekha River. Cascading down a height of 144 ft., the waterfall boast of utter serenity, peace and calm. The area surrounding the spot is engulfed in rich greenery, that makes it an ideal picnic place in the region. To reach the spot, you will have to climb a flight of stairs. You can also stop in between and stare at the gorgeous scenery surrounding it.
The waterfall is basically a Nick Point, also known as Knick Point, which means that it has been developed over the years due to the break in the rocky slopes in a longitudinal manner. For the same reason, it is not ideal to swim or to step into the water as the current is strong and the ground is uneven. Other than that, the region echoes with the gurgling sound of water which is like music to the ears, and is perfect to relax and rejuvenate.
Patratu Valley
Forty kilometres outside Ranchi lies the scintillating Patratu Valley. With sparkling waters of the Patratu Dam on one side and lush green trees flanked along the other, driving along the Ghat of the Patratu Valley is truly a stupendous experience. However, do not venture into these roads after dark because of the rampant Naxalite influence in the area.

Maithon Dam, Dhanbad
The Maithon Dam on the banks of River Borakar is a beautiful and resourceful place located 48 kilometres away from the Coal City. The dam is built by the Damodar Valley Corporation upon a river that expands to 65 square kilometres and is itself at least 15,712 feet long and 165 feet high. The reason Maithon Dam is a famous spot is due to its unique nature of being a one of a kind underground power station in the whole of Southeast Asia. This powerhouse also requires permission to get into and provides guides for all its visitors.
Netarhat
Falling in the Latehar district of Jharkhand, Netarhat is the highest point of Chotanagpur plateau, popularly known as Queen of Chotanagpur. It is best known for the sunrise and sunset views it offers, especially during summers. When travelling by road from Ranchi to Netarhat, you will cross seven hills on your way and a little more than 96 miles.
Netarhat comes under the tag of lesser-known tourist places. Netarhat is around 156 km to the west of Ranchi and 210 km from Daltonganj. It is also notable for the renowned Netarhat Residential School which was started in the year 1954. Essentials like medicines are a must-carry as there is a low probability of chemist shops being present nearby.
